SentNA @ ATE_ABSITA: Sentiment Analysis of Customer Reviews Using Boosted Trees with Lexical and Lexicon-based Features

    Get PDF
This paper describes our submission to the tasks on Sentiment Analysis of ATE_ABSITA (Aspect Term Extraction and Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis). In particular, we focused on Task 3 using an approach based on combining frequency of words with lexicon-based polarities and uses Boosted Trees to predict the sentiment score. This approach achieved a competitive error and, thanks to the interpretability of the building blocks, allows us to show the what elements are considered when making the prediction. We also joined Task 1 proposing a hybrid model that joins rule-based and machine learning methodologies in order to combine the advantages of both. The model proposed for Task 1 is only preliminary.

A method for estimating superplastic material parameters via free-inflation tests

    Get PDF
In this work, a new methodology for evaluating the constitutive parameters of superplastic materials is presented. The proposed methodology provides the characterization of the material by means of a variable called apparent viscosity. This variable is calculated for three different materials through data collected by free inflation tests made at different temperatures and pressure values. The apparent viscosity was then used to calculate some material parameters by which the experimental tests were reproduced numerically in a finite element commercial code. The results obtained by numerical simulations were compared both with the experimental ones and with ones deriving by simulations run with material parameters calculated by a commonly used methodology. The proposed approach revealed to have a good prediction capability with deviations lower than the one found by the approach taken as reference. A second validation step was then performed by comparing the stress and strain-rate values found through the proposed methodology with the curves constructed by applying uniaxial tests results from literature. This latter comparison showed that results fit well with the behaviour shown using the standardised uniaxial tests

Observations of a phytoplankton spring bloom onset triggered by a density front in NW Mediterranean

    Get PDF
Phytoplankton blooms in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea are seasonal events that mainly occur in a specific area comprising the Gulf of Lion and the Provençal basin, where they are promoted by a general cyclonic circulation, strong wind-driven mixing and subsequent re-stratification of the water column. At the southern boundary of this area, a persistent density front known as the north Balearic front can be found. The front is presumed to cause an early phytoplankton bloom in its vicinity because (a) it enhances the transport of nutrients into the euphotic layer and (b) it promotes the speedy re-stratification of the water column (through frontal instabilities). In February and March 2013, a glider, equipped with a CTD (conductivity, temperature, and depth device) and a fluorometer, was deployed on a mission that took it from the Balearic Islands to Sardinia and back. The frontal zone was crossed twice, once during the outbound leg and the once on the return leg. The data provided by the glider clearly showed the onset of a bloom soon after a decrease in wind-driven turbulent convection and mixing. The in situ observations were supported and confirmed by satellite imagery. It is shown that frontal dynamics play a key role in the promotion and acceleration of re-stratification, which is a necessary pre-conditioning factor for the onset of blooms much like other relevant processes such as an enhanced biological pump. Swift re-stratification stimulates new production by inhibiting mixing. Finally, viewing the blooming phenomenon from a regional perspective, it seems that Sverdrup's critical depth model applies in the northern well-mixed area whereas, in the south, front-related re-stratification seems to be the principal cause. © Author(s) 2014.The research described in this paper was funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement no. 262584, JERICOPeer Reviewe

The CHROME Manifesto: integrating multimodal data into Cultural Heritage Resources

    Get PDF
The CHROME Project aims at collecting a wide portfolio of digital resources oriented to technological application in Cultural Heritage (henceforth CH). The contributions for the realisation of such objective come from the efforts of computer scientists, psychologists, architects, and computational linguists, who constitute an interdisciplinary equipe. We are collecting and analyzing texts, spoken materials, architectural surveys, and human motion videos, attempting the integration of these data in a multidimensional platform based on multilevel annotation systems, game engines importing, and virtualization techniques. As case of study we choose to work on the magic travel along three Charterhouses located in Campania region: S. Martino in Naples, S. Lorenzo in Padula (Salerno) and S. Giacomo, in Capri.

Contains fulltext : 88398.pdf (publisher's version ) (Open Access)BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to compare in our center the effect of different ablation techniques on intermediate term freedom from atrial fibrillation (AF) or atrial tachycardia (AT) in patients affected by refractory AF. METHODS AND RESULTS: We retrospectively selected 94 patients who underwent AF ablation in our electrophysiological laboratory from June 2007 to December 2009. 29 patients underwent manual circumferential pulmonary vein isolation (mCPVI), 35 underwent remote magnetic navigation assisted CPVI (rmtCPVI) and 30 cryoballoon CPVI (cCPVI). Antiarrhythmic drugs were systematically stopped 2 months after the procedure (end of the "blanking period"). At a mean follow-up of 12,64 +/- 6,41 months (range 2-31), the success rate for mCPVI group was 65.5% (19 patients), 66.7 % (20 patients) for the rmtCPVI group and 65.7 % (23 patients) for the cCPVI group (p = 0.625). Procedural and fluoroscopy times were significantly reduced in the cCPVI group (both p < 0.001). Univariate Cox regression showed that no clinical variables were independently associated with recurrence. CONCLUSIONS: In our center's experience cCPVI and rmtCPVI have been demonstrated to be as effective as mCPVI. cCPVI seemed to be associated with lower procedural and fluoroscopy times

Performances Analysis of Titanium Prostheses Manufactured by Superplastic Forming and Incremental Forming

    Get PDF
Abstract Titanium and its alloys are widely used in cranioplasty because they are biocompatible with excellent mechanical properties and favor the osseointegration with the bone. However, when Titanium alloys have to be worked several problems occurred from a manufacturing point of view: the standard procedure for obtaining Titanium prostheses is represented by the machining processes, which result time and cost consuming. The aim of this research consist to introduce alternative flexible sheet forming processes, i.e. Super Plastic Forming (SPF) and Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF), for the manufacturing of patient-oriented titanium prostheses. The research activities have already highlighted the potentiality of the investigated forming processes that can be alternatively used taking into account both the damage morphology and the need of urgency operation. In the present work, the way of manufacturing the Ti prostheses by SPF and SPIF is described. A comparative analysis has been performed, thus highlighting the peculiarities of the investigated processes and the prostheses feasibility
